Just wanted to share some other security alerts which we came across in Bukit Jelutong. The description seems to fit the robbers who hit Anggerik Doritis. Three parang wieding men, Chinese!?
Again, we would like to remind our residents to be more watchful and vigilant. Look out for your children/neighbours. Please make sure that the contractors/renovators do not stay beyond 6pm. If you see any suspicious people, just call our security to check them out: 603-5121-5076.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of late, there have been a spate of break-ins and attempted robberies in the area. Three Chinese-looking men with parangs have been terrorizing the area. These men attack enclaves where there is only 1 or no guards at all. They come in a red-coloured Toyota bearing the registration number WQH 6213. The most recent cases are as follows:
23rd March, 10.30pm, Jalan Adang U8/18 – 3 men attempted to break in. The quick-thinking owner locked himself in a room and called his friend who in turn called the call centre. Call centre informed our Officer who happened to be with the BJRA president. They rushed over (with some friends / neighbours as well) but could not locate the suspects who had fled the scene. The Special Branch arrived minutes later followed by the Police patrol car.
25th March, 9.30am, Jalan Serambi U8/25C – House was robbed by three parang wielding men, believe to be the same gang who attempted the robbery in Adang. There was only 1 guard on patrolling duty. This is a non-member.
25th March, 10.30am, Jalan Jendela U8/20B. House under renovation attacked. Threecontract workers tied up. This area has no dedicated guard as only about 20 houses are members.
25th March, Jalan Tiang Seri U8/73E – Alarm fuse was stolen. Possibly by the robbers who planned to attack the house.
26th March, Jalan Jendela U8/20B – The same house (case 3) was attacked and robbers tried to steal the car but failed. Fled with the Smart Tag.

Title : Canal Gardens’ Guards Slacking In Job
Yesterday on 15 April, my lady friend came to visit me at 8.30pm. When she stopped at our Canal Garden guardhouse, she was conveniently let in by the guards on duty without having to surrender any identification cards or even having to say the house address she was visiting. All she said was that she was going to visit a friend inside Canal Gardens. The guard did not even give her a visitor pass. I guess the guard was being 'lenient' as she was a lady, and driving alone.
I then decided to test the guard and see how relaxed our security guards are. At 9.30pm, my friend and I (both ladies) drove out of Canal Gardens using the visitor lane. All we had to do was to 'angkat tangan' and smile and we were let out of the exit. No questions asked. A while later, we drove back in, back again to the visitor lane and again, we just 'angkat tangan' and said we were dropping off a friend. The guard (different guards each time) never asked a question and just raised the bar to let us in.
Now - I'm wondering - just how secure is our Canal Gardens? And how much use is our monthly maintenance bill is put to good use? It doesn't matter whether the visitors are ladies (may seem harmless) or not, security should check everyone and follow procedures before letting anyone in our Canal Gardens. This is seriously a slack in security. I hope someone can look into this, and highlight this to the security department.
Thanks.
Resident - Jo Ong
Thanks for the detailed feedback. We certainly need more residents like you who really took the trouble to feedback with detailed information to help us take this security issue to the service providers. We have highlighted security issues to the respective parties many times, as recent as 24th March. There is a complaint/feedback form in the guard house and we will officially lodge a complaint and will continue to monitor their performance. Thanks again for the detailed feedback.
