Crime Prevention - Burglary

During this school holiday and festive season, many of you will be taking this opportunity to go on vacation or balik kampung. Here are some of the tips to help you prevent break-in / burglary:

1. Keep your gates, doors and windows shut and locked. Extra locks will be better.
2. Leave a light on inside your house. You can use of those programmable electrical timer that controls a variety of household appliances including lights. You can purchase of one these from any DIY shops or electrical/lighting shops.
3. Keep your outdoor lighting sensor on. If you have timer that controls your car porch lighting and/or backlane, better still.
4. Make sure the alarm is working, if you have one.
5. Inform your newspaper man to stop delivery should you go away for a long period.

It will be good also to let you neighbours know and ask them to keep an eye for you. Exchange your contact number with your neighbours so that they know how to reach you if there’s an emergency.

See any suspicious people around. Call 03-5121-5076 (Canal Gardens Security Guard). Let's help one another to keep our community safe.

We wish all happy holidays … and safe journey.

Armed Robberies Around Kota Kemuning

There was a robbery that took place on 8th December 2007 (Saturday) around 9:30pm. Four (4) Chinese men armed with parangs had robbed a house on Anggerik Doritis 31/158.

In the incident, three Hokkien speaking men armed with parangs rushed into the house, tied up the family and took cash, valuables, car keys & house keys. There was a fourth person waiting in a get-away car outside the house. Description of the three (3) armed men – one (1) well-built, believed to be the leader and seasoned bandit as he did not bother hiding behind a mask, the other two (2) are said to be slim and nervous and wore surgical masks.

Details are sketchy, however, some residents has mentioned seeing a suspicious Perdana in one of the previous cases and a suspicious-looking Waja with several men inside was spotted on the afternoon of the day of the incidents.

We understand that last night was the 7th case in Kota Kemuning and Bukit Rimau area, all (suspected) by the same gang, targeting ungated residences.

This news was quoted from Kota Kemuning Doritis Zone 1 (http://doritis1.org).

If you see any suspicious people wandering around Canal Gardens, please call 03-5121-5076 to reach our Security Guard Post and get them check out these people.

CGRC 2007/09 - 3rd Meeting

Our Canal Gardens Residents' Committee 3rd Meeting was held on Friday, 14th December 2007. Our Chairman, Mr. Krishnan Jr. updated the rest of the members on overall progress on our request to fix existing issues pertaining to Canal Gardens. As our developer has partly handed-over and happily washed-off their hands to MBSA on landscape and street lighting, we have to deal with MBSA directly on some of the following matters.

Here are the updates:

1. Replacing dead trees and planting more trees along the canal (MBSA delivered the plants on 14th Dec, and will be planting soon).
2. Improving the lighting (MBSA has agreed to put up adequate lighting for our basketball & badminton courts; more lighting along the canal as well as brighter lighting for our areas/streets).

There is still one thorny issue which we need our developer to fix - our canal. Apparently our developer has yet to successfully handover the canal to MBSA. Numerous meeting requests by Canal Gardens Residents' Committee were rejected by our developer. We are very disappointed with the attitude shown by our developer. On principal, MBSA has agreed to request our developer to "fix" the issues pertaining to our canal e.g. setting up floodgate, widening the canal, extending exit point of the canal prior to accepting the handover.

Canal Gardens Residents' Committee will also write to seek an appointment with the Big Boss of Gamuda in the hope that we will be able to have a channel to help us resolve all the open issues amicably, as soon as possible.

Canal Gardens Residents' Committee will keep all posted. Please tune in for more updates.
