Robbery in Kota Kemuning

Just a few days ago I was informed of a robbery case which happened last week on Thursday, 15th November around 8.30pm. The unfortunate shop is located along Hicom-Gamuda Sales Office. Two young Malay chap, on motorcycle who are "high" came in with parang and it was over within minutes. Police report was made to Balai Polis Section 11 as advised by Kota Kemuning Pondok/Balai Polis. We wonder how come we need to go all the way to Section 11 when there is one right here within Kota Kemuning.

If you know of any criminal incidents and/or alerts which you would like to share, please drop us an email at: canalgardens@gmail.com.

Car Robbery Tactic

If two people on a motorcycle come up next to your car and tell you that your brakes are leaking, don't stop. It could be a trick to make you get out so they can rob you. Read about one person's experience and lucky escape here.

CGRC 2007/09 - 2nd Meeting

Our 2nd Meeting was held on Wednesday, 14th November 2007. The team discussed and deliberated on some of the issues which we still need the developer to address e.g. floodgate for the canal, insufficient lighting at the central park, dead trees not being replaced and extending the exit point of the canal. We are writing in again to seek for a meeting as our previous request for meeting was rejected. We really wanted to resolve all the open issues amicably, within the soonest time possible. We will keep all posted here.

On the hand, the team has also laid out some community activities for the coming months. Among those planned are: Golf Tournament (Dec '07), Family Day (March '08), Garage Sales (July '08) and Home Garden Contest (Sept '08). We are lso looking into organizing some sports activities like Walkathon and Basketball.

So stay tune for more updates. CGRC Social Head and Sports Head, Lily Wong, Choong Chee Sam and Steven Lim, will be sharing more information with all in the coming blogs.

Updated 11 Jan 2008: Golf Tournament will be held in end of Feb 2008.

Recycling Day (November 2007)

Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment. Our recycling project was initiated by the founding committees back in September 2006. Canal Gardens Recycling Day is usually scheduled on the first Sunday of each month (or the next Sunday if for some reasons it is postponed). One week before the Recycling Day, we will proudly hang our Recycling Banner at the main entrance roundabout for all residents to take note. Recycling Day last for 6 hours (10am - 4pm) where CGRC members will rotate to jaga and collect, organize, and even load the recycables onto the lorry. All the collections from Recycling Day are channeled back into our community fund.

So come and join the fun. Play your part to help our mother earth. This meaningful exercise will also help to build our community fund. So bring your "recyclables" like papers, magazines, cardboxes, aluminium, plastics, etc.
  • When: First Sunday of each month, 10am - 4pm
  • Where: Gazebo Near 2nd Exit
We will get our Recycling Head (Kapala), Encik Yaacob Salim to share more on the "How, What, When & Why of Recycling" in the coming Blogs. So, watch out for our Recycling Banner and stay tune! See you there on our December Recycling Day next month!

CGRC 2007/09 - 1st Meeting

This is our first meeting for the newly elected Kota Kemuning Canal Gardens Residents' Committee (CGRC) for 2007/09. The meeting was held on Friday, 2nd November 2007 which is less than one week after the Kota Kemuning Canal Gardens Residents' Annual General Meeting (held on Sunday, 28th October 2007 at Centre Park's Basketball Court). Our first CGRC Meeting was held at the Persatuan Penduduk Kota Kemuning (PPKK) office which is located next to the Kota Kemuning Balai Polis, above the Post Office. It was a lively two hours session where we all nominated and elected our new key office bearers e.g. Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Head of "Departments".

For the new term 2007/09, we continued the tradisi of having a good "mixture" across the committees to ensure all residents are represented as evenly as possible... We have Chinese, Malay and Indian... (That's the spirit of Muhibah!)... From 20s to 60s (So young and old also have their views represented here)... Profession-wise, we have Lawyer, Auditor, Businessman, Banker, Trader, Principal, IT... macam-macam pun ada...

Most importantly, all these committees are fellow residents who cared enough and volunteered themselves to serve our community, to ensure that all of us, the esteemed residents of Kota Kemuning Canal Gardens, live in a safe, comfortable, friendly, healthy, and harmony environment.

In the upcoming Blogs, we will introduce some of the committee members and share with you the respective "Departments" and "Functions/Roles" so that we all get to know each other better. So stay tune!

We will be launching our very own Canal Gardens Residents' Community Portal, albeit a simple e-forum, we should be able to access information privy to residents-only e.g. Meeting Minutes, Financial Statements. This Community Portal will also provide another channel for the residents to provide feedback on how to improve our lovely Canal Gardens, or channel our grievances so that actions can be taken to address the issues respectively. So stay tune and check us out regularly!

Updated: 11 Jan 2008 - This BLOG has provided a good platform for communication which is easily accessible by majority of the community. Hence, Kota Kemuning Canal Gardens Residents' Committee decided to leverage on this BLOG alone and will not be launching the Community Portal for now.
