Yesterday, approximately
50 pairs of shoes were stolen from a few houses in Road L. We suspected the theft took place sometime between
3am - 5am Monday, 24th March.
At night, Krishnan (CGRC Chairman), Brandon (CGRC Head of Security) and fellow residents in Road L had a meeting with the Hicom-Gamuda (represented by Johari) and their appointed security company (represented by Capt. Harminder) to immediately find a solution to tighten and improve our security within Canal Gardens.
Some of the action items which we have put in place immediately/today:
1. To ensure a more effective patrolling,
the guards will patrol by only cycling and walking. The motorcycle will be used for emergency case only. This is to ensure that they are more alert and watchful to the surrounding instead of zooming past each rows of houses at 60/70km per-hour.
2. To increase the frequency of patrolling whereby
the guards will move/walk around from one security point to another. This is to ensure that they are constantly on the move instead of being stationed (and
lepaking) at one single point.
Other action items:
1. To get Hicom-Gamuda to
enhance the security fencing / wall by putting up spikes to deter intruders from climbing the wall (near Road L, as these are the only set of walls without any spikes). Also to put up barb wire along the pipeline which is located in front of Road L / first row).
Other Notes:
1. Residents are encouraged to log any complaint on the security guards if they are caught napping/sleeping, not doing their job (e.g. waving to their
members allowing any cars to come in and out instead of taking the proper action of registering information, smoking on duty and others). The
Complaint Form and
Log Book is available at the Main Security Post/House. We urged all residents to launch complaints as soon as you see any security breach for example, strangers loiterring around our area etc. The CGRC will be making more ad-hoc checks on these security to ensure that all complaints, security breach and issues are properly documented and there are proper follow-up action that goes with it.
We will keep all posted with any updates on the security alerts and issues.
