Oih Mr. Developer - You Very-the-Efficient (If Only You Do it More Often)

Upon hearing that the VIPs are in town to checkout Canal Gardens ...... Mr. Developer "very-the-quickly" deployed a troop of cleaners to "take care" of our normally neglected canal and field.

Even the kapala turun padang / masuk longkang to clean the canal/longkang. If only Mr. Developer is more sincere in fulfilling their promises.

Security Breached - Road L

Yesterday, approximately 50 pairs of shoes were stolen from a few houses in Road L. We suspected the theft took place sometime between 3am - 5am Monday, 24th March.

At night, Krishnan (CGRC Chairman), Brandon (CGRC Head of Security) and fellow residents in Road L had a meeting with the Hicom-Gamuda (represented by Johari) and their appointed security company (represented by Capt. Harminder) to immediately find a solution to tighten and improve our security within Canal Gardens.

Some of the action items which we have put in place immediately/today:

1. To ensure a more effective patrolling, the guards will patrol by only cycling and walking. The motorcycle will be used for emergency case only. This is to ensure that they are more alert and watchful to the surrounding instead of zooming past each rows of houses at 60/70km per-hour.

2. To increase the frequency of patrolling whereby the guards will move/walk around from one security point to another. This is to ensure that they are constantly on the move instead of being stationed (and lepaking) at one single point.

Other action items:

1. To get Hicom-Gamuda to enhance the security fencing / wall by putting up spikes to deter intruders from climbing the wall (near Road L, as these are the only set of walls without any spikes). Also to put up barb wire along the pipeline which is located in front of Road L / first row).

Other Notes:

1. Residents are encouraged to log any complaint on the security guards if they are caught napping/sleeping, not doing their job (e.g. waving to their members allowing any cars to come in and out instead of taking the proper action of registering information, smoking on duty and others). The Complaint Form and Log Book is available at the Main Security Post/House. We urged all residents to launch complaints as soon as you see any security breach for example, strangers loiterring around our area etc. The CGRC will be making more ad-hoc checks on these security to ensure that all complaints, security breach and issues are properly documented and there are proper follow-up action that goes with it.

We will keep all posted with any updates on the security alerts and issues.

Fashion Show - Canal Gardens Family Day 2008

Thank You for Supporting Canal Gardens Family Day 2008

More than 400 people from over 140 families participated in our Canal Gardens Family Day 2008. The rain failed to dampen the neighbourhood spirit, and the families of Canal Gardens came out in drove to support our annual event. Some drenched but almost all went home with a smile and a stomach full of yummy food and a bit of mosquito bites. The sporting ones, who took part in our Fashion Show, Karaoke and Games, went home with some small tokens and hampers. The lucky ones went home with galore of lucky draw gifts. And most of the kids went home smiling cheek to cheek, showing off their "mini tattoos" and "collectibles" sand arts.

We thank all families who supported our Family Day. Your attendance and participations made this event a success and memorable one. We thanked all our generous sponsors, including individuals who have contributed in kinds and cash.

A very special thanks to Lily, Sonia and May, the key organizing team, and the rest of the committees and their spouses for making this a successful and terrific event!

We will be posting some pictures in this blog, as well as in our Canal Gardens Residents' Photo Portal @ http://picasaweb.google.com/canalgardens.

What Happened to our Canal?

Photos taken 17 Feb 2008. Disgusting yeah! This is not the canal our esteemed developer promised when we decided to part with our hard-earned money, took huge loan, moved from Subang/USJ/Klang. How can lah Mr. Developer, how can?

Canal Over-Flow

It rained quite heavily this afternoon, less than an hour. Look at the damaged done ... and more importantly the potential of the canal water overflowing into our streets, and worse-case, imagine heavy rain for 4/8/16 hours like what happened in Johor couple of months ago.

We have to rectify this before it is too late. Maybe the new YB will be more responsive? Perhaps a newly elected local government or councillors will help end this nightmare. Will keep all posted!

Happy Voting, My Fellow Malaysians

Tomorrow ... March 8th, 2008. The moment has come for us to decide whether we want to continue accepting status quo, going through the same motion or make a change for what some of us believe may mark the dawn of a new era in Malaysian history.

Well, the politicians can cakap and bikin whatever they want lah, but the final decision is with you, you and you. So please exercise your rights!

Pergilah Undi ... whoever you'll be rooting for ... vote wisely and vote with your conscience.

Happy Voting!!!!

Canal Gardens Recycling Day March 2008 Photos

Check out the rest of the photos at: http://picasaweb.google.com/canalgardens

Canal Gardens Recycling Day - March 2008

We recorded another RM527.70 into our Canal Gardens Community Fund. Didn't manage to breach the previous collection for Feb 2008 (RM566). Although this is the lowest collection thus far, we would still like to express our gratitude and thank all the residents who have been supporting us on this monthly activity. Some of you have even stacked the old newspapers nicely on Saturday evening / Sunday early morning. Thanks!

For your information, all proceeds from our Canal Gardens Residents' Recycling Day will be channeled 100% (Seratus Peratus) back into our Canal Gardens Residents' Fund which will be used for our social community event, for example, the upcoming Canal Gardens Family Day 2008.

Our monthly recycling day is held typically on the first Sunday every month, from 10am to 3pm. Bring your recycables to the Gazebo near 2nd Exit.

Hope to see you next month... and help us do much better ;)
